Carol’s Corner

"As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never cease."                                                                                                                      Genesis 8:22

The turning of the seasons are the fulfillment of God's promise. It is reassuring to us to remember that the cold of winter will be followed by the freshness and warmth of spring and then summer and fall in their season will arrive with the unique blessings. Each season brings its own reminders of the mighty works of God.

The Christian calendar also highlights God's work. It is designed to help us remember the mighty works of God on our behalf.

Advent

           Christmas

                      Epiphany

                                Lent

                                       Easter

                                                 Pentecost

                                                                Ordinary Time

These are the days of our lives; each season highlighting the graciousness of God and His touch in our lives. Each season offers its own unique way of experiencing God in our lives.

We are now in the season of Lent, often observed in terms of a journey. We cannot journey through Lent as though Easter never happened, to be surprised by it at journey's end. We journey through Lent with the assurance that Jesus conquered death on our behalf. Our awareness of His sacrifice on our behalf is heightened and so is our gratitude for what He has done. We become more and more aware that to belong to Christ is to live in joyous victory. We are those who have new and eternal lives in the presence of a holy God. We cannot go through Lent unaware that we are an Easter people. May the journey that leads us to Easter affirm in us the need to live for the One who died for us.

Be blessed,
Carol
